1967 Camaro Facts
  • The quickest way to identify a '67 Camaro is the "smoker's window". Those fold-out side windows were discontinued in 1968 and 1969. Another distinguishing feature of a '67 vs. a '68 (because they are the most similar of the 1st gens), is the lack of a turn signal lamp between the front wheel well and bumper. In '68 the side turn lamp was added.
  • Based on raw production numbers, the most common appearance for the Camaro was the base appearance.  This came with both the 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder engine options and there were about 120,000 produced.

  • More desirable now but less common in the 1967 model year was the Rally Sport or “RS” appearance package.  Nearly 65,000 Camaros were sold with the RS badge.  The most distinctive features of the RS package were the “hideaway” headlights.

  • The Camaro had its own version of the Chevrolet “Super Sport” appearance and performance package.  The appearance of the SS option alone was more similar to the base model but included the SS badging.  Purchasing the SS option also brought more oomph under the hood with the availability of 350 and 396 cubic inch engines.

  • Today’s most desirable of the 1967 Camaro based on production numbers was the Z-28.  Just a hair over 600 were produced and this was a performance option…although it also looked pretty good.  All Z-28’s came with a high performance 302 cubic inch engine and 4 speed manual transmission.  The “heavy duty” suspension and “positraction” rear end were the icing on the cake and made the Z a true performer.
